At our PTO meeting earlier this week, we learned how the all-volunteer group Families Helping Families supports families in our school community to meet specific needs that might otherwise prevent a student from reaching their full potential at school. Sometimes this is through direct, specific, short-term financial assistance or by identifying an existing organization that can help. Other times it is by directly asking the community "Do you have (for example) a twin bed you no longer need?" and then arranging for pick-up and delivery.

You can provide support by following Families Helping Families on their facebook page and/or offering to volunteer your time. For example, the group often needs help transporting large items such as furniture.
